iOS 8 jailbreak pangu 1.1

The definitive version of Pangu for Windows is here. This version, as you’ve likely read, is complete with a bundled Cydia installation and English text. There are also a few differences in some of the screens that you’ll encounter during the jailbreak process.

If you’ve yet to jailbreak iOS 8, then you no longer need to wait around for anything (outside of a version for the Mac). This is the complete version of Pangu, that makes it super-simple to jailbreak just like jailbreaks of old. Pangu 1.1.0 is a great tool, and it works very well.

Check out our final complete Pangu 1.1 iOS 8.x jailbreak video tutorial inside. It only takes 8 easy steps.

How to jailbreak iOS 8.x with Pangu 1.1

Note: Backup your device and perform a fresh install of iOS 8 via iTunes before proceeding. This will ensure that the jailbreak runs quicker and ups the chance of success. You can always restore your data post jailbreak. This tutorial is for Windows. If you don’t have a Windows machine, you can use a virtual machine on your Mac.

Step 1: Connect your device to your PC, and make sure that you tap the Trust This Computer button on your device if it prompts you to do so

Step 2: Enable Airplane mode on your device

Step 3: Download Pangu 1.1 from our downloads page and save it to your desktop

Step 4: Right click on the Pangu tool and select Run as Administrator

Step 5: Once your device is detected by Pangu, click the Start Jailbreak button

Step 6: After reading the notice presented by Pangu, click Already Did to begin the jailbreak process

Step 7: Be patient and wait for the progress bar to reach the very end, and your iPhone will reboot

Step 8: Once your iPhone reboots you should see Cydia on your Home screen. Launch Cydia to initialize it and you’re good to go

That’s it folks. That’s how you jailbreak and install Cydia in one fell swoop. How did you fare? Are you jailbreaking, or are you still holding off for some reason?

I’ve tested Pangu 1.1.0 on 3 4S’es after OTA and then full restore. On all 3, Safari has problems with most webpages after a little bit of use. When respringing the problem disappears for a bit. I duplicated it by opening the Facebook app first before Safari, and then Safari reloads any webpage repeatedly. I downloaded Cleaner and verified that free memory drops from about 90 MB to 10 MB when both Facebook and Safari or Chrome are open causing the problem. Chrome will actually cause springboard to crash and respring as it doesn’t stop loading the page for lack of memory like Safari does. Also, you don’t need to load Facebook to recreate the issue; most content/graphic-intensive sites will force the reload/crash issue, but Facebook proves it’s a memory issue.

This issue should happen on all 4S, iPad 2, and IPad Mini 1 because of only 512MB of RAM. I don’t think there will be any solution as the jailbreak requires a certain amount of memory. I would say to hold off on the jailbreak for these devices unless you’ve found an exceptional way to free up memory without closing essential processes.

It slows down iPad Mini 2 as well after 5 tabs are open, It crashes iPad 3 Safari or Chrome, and also Pages, Keynote and Numbers can’t keep up scrolling big documents

      • SIMTester

Pangu was updated today to fix launchd slowdown on 32-bit devices. It doesn’t affect the iPad Mini 2, but you should update in Cydia by clicking on the Changes option. It didn’t help with the 4S at all.

  • Still waiting for some “Official” update from JB community regarding touch ID and passcode issue after restoring from backup… 🙁

    • Skoven

It is possible to do it. I’ve just did it on my 5s.
Looks for my comment – will post soon… It’s not difficult at all.

      • But if you restore from backup and turn on touch ID and passcode then it gets stuck during boot logo…

    • Skoven

      1. Backup your iPhone (Remove passcode and find my phone).
      2. Restore via iTunes.
      3. Skip everything when “setting up new iphone” (no passcode and find my iphone)
      4. Jailbreak (remember to enable airplane mode).
      6. Restore your backup via iTunes – MAKE SURE THAT PASSCODE IS DISABLED after restore.
      7. NOW OPEN CYDIA and install Cydia substrate, and reinstalled the pangu unteather. This will reboot your phone.
      8. Set passcode.
      9. Reboot!

      10. Enjoy 🙂

      • Ok, I will try this later at night…

        Thanks indeed though… 🙂

      • Should I as well enable find my iPhone too?

        before passcode or after ?

      • Also during reboot the Apple logo flickers five time in loop and then it boots up…

        Is it ok ?

      • Skoven

Dont remember seeing the logo flicker… i can check the phone tomorrow.

      • It’s working well for now, thanks for the helpful guide. I owe you one. 🙂

  • Anybody else getting the update notification in Pangu app on iPhone? I click update, update, and when I open up Pangu again, it asks if I wanna update again. I’m just gonna re-jailbreak on this I guess 😛 Thanks for this tut Jeff!

I just got done with my jailbreak for my iPhone 6. Went smooth, better than I thought. Took forever to do my restore. After restore setup as new iPhone and then jailbreak then restore backup. So far so good. Now I need to figure out how to get rid of pangu app. Anyone know how to?

    • SIMTester

Search for Pangu loader in Cydia and then remove it. Don’t remove the Pangu untether.

  • Kilroy672

I also noticed a big drop in battery after jailbreak. Has this been a common occurrence for everybody?

  • [ Electroshock11 ]

people I need your help. I’ve jailbroken my iPhone. but when I open pangu app doesn’t show the store to update Cydia… what I do?

    • zmcd-6

    • SIMTester

Cydia should auto-install with the new Pangu 1.1.0. You should reboot, and if that doesn’t work, run Pangu installer again.

  • atif

    • zmcd-6

try to restore again with pangu…

    • SIMTester

Try another computer to restore in iTunes. You probably have a conflict on your computer preventing iTunes restores.

  • Hunter

.1 Do you have to be on a fresh version of ios 8.1 to do this? I don’t really wanna back up and restore because im using mcdonalds wifi and it will take a long time.

    • SIMTester

No, you can do an OTA update to 8.1. It usually works without any issues. If it fails, you should do a proper iTunes restore.

  • Daniel Guzman

So i jailbreak it with pangu and it work, but then when i run cydia it ask me to update the pangu untethered jailbreak which i did and it reboot my device but it got stuck on the apple logo, so i restored it using itunes and then i did the jailbreak once again but this time i did not do the update in cydia, but i used the finger prints (im using an Iphone 5s) and i turn it off to see if it work this time but again it got stuck on the apple logo .. how can i fix this!

  • Todd Young

I’ve been jailbreaking every iPhone I’ve owned for 5 years now, and this is by far the most “beta” buggy release yet that has critically impacted so many. Best to wait it out a little longer, unless you like restoring your device numerous times.

  • cyberfunk77

This doesn’t work with my iPhone 4S on a clean restore of ios 8.1. and
Pangu 1.1.0. When Jailbreaking my phone restarts early and I never make
it to the “Jailbreak Success” message. Pangu closes with the progress
bar incomplete. After my phone restarts there is no Cydia installed
only an app with a generic white icon called “pangunew” I’ve done several
clean restores of the phone and also re-downloaded the Pangu Tool,
restarted my PC etc. Any help is appreciated.

    • Markieze Anthony Mitchell

I am having that same problem. I spent hours last night trying to figure out what I could be doing wrong on my part but couldn’t seem to figure it out at all.

      • cyberfunk77

I just had success! Delete the “pangunew” app and try Jailbreaking it again. For some reason that worked for me.

      • Markieze Anthony Mitchell

I will definitely give that a try when I can later tonight. Thanks for the advice?

  • Pablo

I’ve jailbroken with pangu 1.1 on iphone 5s and cydia didn’s show up, instead I have an app without icon named pangunew…I have restored my iphone from m last copy saved and the icon is still there, how can I fix it?

  • FCBKris

Jeff, if you dont mind me asking. Is your main device jailbroken ?

  • Cam

Using an iphone6 128gb it takes much longer “preparing the enviroment” and then fails on step 4/6. It suggests rebooting device but that still doesnt work. Any suggestions?

    • SIMTester

Try Pangu again or restore the device in iTunes and jailbreak again.

  • Is it completely safe that during a reboot sometimes Apple logo appear and disappear up to 3 times and then device boots successfully… ?

    • SIMTester

Yes, it happens to almost all my devices since iOS 7. It takes two minutes for some devices sometimes.

      • Ok, thanks for the info…
