Just last week, security researcher Ian Beer apprised the internet about a powerful tfp0 exploit for iOS 11.0-11.1.2. Little was known regarding the exploit at the time except that it granted seemingly endless possibilities.

On Monday, Beer once again broke the silence by announcing on Twitter that he had officially released the exploit to the public.

Beer’s Tweets seem to validate initial assumptions that the tfp0 exploit should work on all devices running iOS 11.0-11.1.2, perhaps including Apple’s current flagship handsets: iPhone X, 8, and 8 Plus. He appears to have tested it on an iPhone 7, iPhone 6s, and iPod touch 6G, but adding support for other devices “should be easy,” as he puts it.

To be clear and upfront, Beer’s release isn’t a jailbreak. Instead, it’s a security exploit that someone could potentially use as a part of an iOS 11 jailbreak. Consider it like a piece of an incomplete puzzle; someone still needs to put those pieces together to make a functioning jailbreak tool for the public.

Apple still signs iOS 11.1.2 as of this writing, and we made a tutorial going over how to get your devices on iOS 11.1.2 as soon as possible. Because Apple recently released iOS 11.2, there’s only a limited amount of time left before the signing window for iOS 11.1.2 closes. That said, you have a tough decision to make if you fancy any chance of jailbreaking iOS 11 in the future.

Two of the most significant new features on iOS 11.2 are Apple Pay Cash and 7.5W wireless charging, both of which most people can (but won’t want to) live without. That said, there isn’t much to lose unless you actually rely on these features.

If you’re already cozily jailbroken on iOS 9 or iOS 10, my advice is to stay where you are. I wouldn’t bother taking the risk of losing your precious jailbreak, as there’s still no guarantee that an iOS 11 jailbreak will ever materialize.

Would you like to see a jailbreak made for iOS 11.1.2? Let us know in the comments section below.

I’m still onto 10.3.2 waiting for a possible jailbreak. If there isn’t one, I may jump to 11.1.2 I know it may close any time. It’s a hard decision…… stay where I am, or to update 11.1.2….. ?

    • That is a tough decision. The state of the situation isn’t convenient by any means. If I were in your shoes, I’d probably go with 11.1.2, but that’s only my opinion.

      • Jason

        Thanks Anthony,

I’d think I go with that too, I do have apps that randomly crashes on 10.3.2 that has update Often. I do know the newer firmware is better. Fingers cross near future jailbreak.

    • Boaz van Veen

Currently the only hope you have is 11.1.2. Security engineers tend to look for exploits in later firmwares so i think its better now to update as the usual “stay lowest as possible”.

  • jalexcarter

hell yes i would like to see a 11.1.2 jailbreak! I was jb on 10.1.2 but encountered an error installing a random package, which i will never install again, causing it to half install and make my entire phone so buggy it was unusable while jb because there was no way to remove the half installed package or any other packages i already had, or add any new ones. so I went ahead and upgraded and have missed it ever since.

    • Brack

You could’ve save your ios 10.1.2 by using remover from cydia, then do a normal erase all content, then rejailbreak. That’s what I did. My phone was really buggy,

      • jalexcarter

i didnt have cydia remover already installed so that method probably wouldn’t have worked but ill make sure i install it first thing next time i jb so i have it in case it happens again, thanks brack!

      • Brack

That’s first tweak I install. I got cydia eraser on my 9.3.2, and cydia remover on my 10.1.

  • Boaz van Veen

I can happily say i downgraded my iPhone X from 10.2 to 11.1.2 with the holding shift+ “update” button in itunes. (and then selecting the ipsw file) I kept all my data. I can recommend others to do this as well, any day apple might close signing the firmware now.

    • Tomo Play

be carefully, i have also jump from 11.2 to 11.1.2 with the update trick.
After few days my device is in a job loop, the only fix is to activate the flight mode.
The iPhone 7 Plus from my wife, the bug was directly after “update” to 11.1.2.
So better go directly to a fresh DFU restore before the sign window is closed.

      • Boaz van Veen

i have backups, so i will take the risc. Its not worth losing all my data for a possible jailbreak. All savegames, notes, whatsapp messages etc.

      • Steve Harvey

Use iMazing. Last time I used the tool, the page I left open in Safari was still there after a restore.

      • Hunter926

Just do an encrypted backup since your already on 11.1.2. Then DFU restore
        Then restore from your backup.
All your data is saved with full stability

      • Tomo Play

you have a backup for 11.2 which will not work for 11.1.2.

If you make a backup after your update from 11.2 to 11.1.2 there is always the bug in your backup present.

And the risk for you, after closing the 11.1.2 signing you can’t restore.

    • Kevin Chen(陈凯文)

I suggest update to iOS 11.1.1.
11.1.2 have the Dec 2 bug where it restarts your phone and u do not want to deal with it when December 2 2018 hits

      • Brack

Is there a way to fix This. Or does it constantly restart?

      • Kimleang

this problem happen when when your phone hit Dec 2 and if one your app having local notification like Spendee, then phone will be restart springboard every 30sec and the iPhone will be damn hot.
temporary fix is manual change date time to never hit Dec 2 or disable notification completely only at Dec 2.

      • Brack

so now that dec 2 has passed it should be good, until next year. hopefully by then if there is a jailbreak, someone will have a tweak for it

      • Thats a little false actually. The bug was caused by certain apps that use time based notifications. While Apple has fixed this in iOS 11.2, apps that have been updated should also have fixed the issue.
The bug itself isn’t that much of a hassle to get out of either. Just restart the phone when it does and it’ll be fine.

    • Hunter926

If you only hit “update” to get back to 11.1.2 then you may want to do a backup, do a full restore, then restore from the backup. I did that the way you did and my purchase history wouldn’t show up in the App Store until I did what I said

  • Brack

Well I got an 6s Plus on 9.3.2, and an iphone 7plus on 10.1. I was thinking of upgrading my 7 to 11.1.2, and just use my 6s plus, when/if 11.1.2 jailbreak happens. I’m wanting the new apple watch with lte, and guess u need ios 11 on your phone

  • David Gow

I am patiently waiting for a jailbreak.

  • Mario Mendez

Jailbreak on the iPhone X would be epic.

  • Zohar

Is there a way to save the 11.1.2 blobs while the firmware is still signed? Don’t want to loose my jailbreak on 10.2 but it’d be nice to upgrade if a new jailbreak is out.

    • Yes, google (tsssaver 1conan) it’ll be the first link. Enter your ECID number into the box and select your iPhone from the list and click save. It’ll then let you download it or save it to various online storage options. It’ll save any SHSH blob for any firmware that is still being signed but won’t save them for firmwares that aren’t being signed regardless if you are on an older firmware or not.

      • Zohar

        Thanks!
Edit: do you know if the Prometheus/futurerestore method works for restoring iOS11?

      • I’ve honestly never looked into it. I was under the impression that those tools only worked on 32bit devices… Sorry ^^;

  • 9to5Slavery

Let those android trolls who share negative comments on the light of jailbreak for our true iphone users get shunned !!!!!!

  • Mark S

    Is the jailbreak out yet?

    • Gurinder Singh Bajwa

nope its just an exploit that would help in the create creating jb apps

    • Sebastian Rasch

There isn’t even a jailbreak in the making as of yet. It’s gonna be quite a while until there will be a jailbreak.

  • Jason

Having problems with 11.1.2 phone keep restarting on its own. Is there a fix than updating to 11.2?

    • Turn off notifications for apps that use time based notifications.

  • Dillon

    iPhone X ready on 11.1.2

  • Jerry

Not going through this emotional roller coaster anymore. Apple won jailbreak is dead and surprisingly the phone is still holding its value when it comes to resell even without the jailbreak. So I hang my hat up after jailbreak breaking every phone since the first jailbreak every existed 🙁

  • Iskren Donev

I have a suspicion that we will see a jailbreak sooner rather than later ?

  • Torch

They just need jailbreak for the iPhone X. Stealing ideas is one of their biggest approaches.

  • Pokie Peaches

I updated from ios 11.2 to 11.1.2 just now…Just installed a premium MOD Spotify for free with Cydia Impactor…That should keep me company till ios 11 jb is released.

  • Mike

Of course we want a JB for this. The community is seemingly on its last legs. We all need a recharge.

    • Mario Mendez

      yes. come on!

  • Muhamad Shafiq

I have an iphone 6, running on ios 9.0.2 (Jailbroken). Lately, it seems that sometimes, most of the apps crashed and once in a while the phone freeze. I think maybe because the ios 9 is far away behind and making apps that has been optimized for newer ios, unstable in my phone. So, hearing about this news… despite the love of the jailbroken state of my phone, i think i might jump to ios 11 as soon as possible and hoping for a miracle that jailbreak for ios 11 to be released.

  • yusslayer

Not patient to wait my iphone x jailbroken.put animoji many face tweak.
